About

Freshly Dug is the section where we can share some of the things that interest us. Be it, a cool shirt, some kickass musicians or a zombie-proof sweater. If we dig it, you'll find it here.

This month's Freshly Dug we again feature some kickass horror-themed threads from mini cassette tees! I was a big fan of the now defunct Nostromo Design and still have about 4 of their shirts including my coveted Monster Squad tee. I was very excited when I saw that Danny from Nostromo Design chose to continue his awesome creativity with mini cassette tees. mini cassettehas all kinds of awesome shirts from sci-fi and horror to retro gaming. They carry both mens and womens clothing and all shirts are printed on high quality tees in various sizes. We highly reccommend mini cassette tees and make sure to let them know that you saw them on Revenant's Freshly Dug!

Stay tuned for a mini cassette contest right here at Revenant and in the meantime, go buy some shirts!

Creature Feature's "The Greatest Show Unearthed album

Creature Feature is the now 3 man band completely built of awesome. When we first heard Creature Feature about a year ago, we were instant fans. Their debut album 'The Greatest Show Unearhted' is chock full of horror movie references and macabre melodies.

The band is comprised of guitar and vocalist Curtis Rx, Synth and samples from Eric X and the newst edition of drummer Kevin M.

The debut album came out on October 30th and you should drag your shambling ass to your nearest Hot Topic or Best Buy and pick it up. Revenant HIGHLY endorses this album.

Brainthirst, the zombie/horror themed hip hop super-duo that is making some noise online is on the rise. Eggskin brings gritty, hardcore lyricism with a ferocity that seems to come naturally. Partner in rhyme, Bits brings tightly delivered verses with a unique style. The two connect with a mind that works like Rapquest, directing the intensity of their music to the masses, which seem to be welcoming of the groups signature style and sound.

Having never actually been in the same physical studio-space, Brainthirst was born when Eggs and Bits met on online hip hop forums and decided to collaborate artistically. Each recorded verses in their respective studios, sent files digitally and composed songs in sections.

Eggs and Bit’s both have a love of the horror genre and moreover, zombies as can be heard on tracks like “Acre of the Undead”, a dark and almost post apocalyptic song about a siege of the undead with references to survival horror video games like Resident Evil. The Song “Darkside” is a time bomb of lyrical energy that explodes as the arsenal of 3 mc’s on top of their game is unleashed.

Embracing the idea of internet collaborations has paid off well for Brainthirst. Having worked with underground dj’s, producers and other mc’s on tracks like ‘Acre of the Undead’ featuring djcc on the cuts, ‘Darkside’ featuring the vocal talents and production of Bbear and ‘MoNstrous’ featuring the turntablism of Dj Snyder.

Brainthirst are proactively recording and applying their craft to all sorts of collaborative projects. Certainly a force to be reckoned with as all they need is a whiff of fresh brains to dominate any track. You can check them out on Soundclick at www.soundclick.com/brainthirst
